Quickstart

Configuration steps




1. Sign Up

  1. Click Log In or Sign Up
  2. Enter email for a Slack admin and create a password.
    To check the user has Slack admin role go to Slack > Tools and Settings > Workspace Settings > Manage Members
  3. Verify your email

2. Create Subscription

  1. Log in
  2. Navigate to Subscriptions page and click "Add New Subscription"
  3. Complete payment setup entering your Slack team ID
    • In the Web this can be found in the URL. For example T06L77720R0 in this link: https://app.slack.com/client/T06L77720R0/
  4. Close the subscription popup and refresh the page
  5. The Subscriptions section on the Overview page should now be green

3. Install the IM Defender app

  1. Log in
  2. Navigate to Installation page and follow the steps
  3. Make sure to approve the app for your workspace so users can install the app
  4. All sections in Overview page are now green

4. Deploy to Users

  1. Log in
  2. Navigate to Users page and click "Message non-compliant users"
  3. Each user with an "Installation State" of "Not Installed" will be notified by the app to install
  4. Once a user has installed the app, the "Installation State" will change to "Installed"
  5. Monitor which users need to install the app in the Users dashboard and Overview page

5. (Optional) Check it is working

  1. Post a message to the general channel in Slack with the link malicious.imdefender.com
  2. The message will be removed and you will see a message to warn you
  3. Go to the Threats dashboard, here you will see the message that was blocked
